Britain’s Top Designer: Tuncer Tonun

Tuncer Tonun, born in 1988, Turkey. He started his fashion adventure at Bahar Korcan studio, working as an assistant.

He studied Fine Arts Faculty textiles and fashion at Yeditepe University, Istanbul with first place honours and won a scholarship for future studies. Whilst studying, he freelanced within many projects such as corporate identity, stage and theatre costumes, adverts, films and music video costume designing.

His designs made from recycled and environmentally, friendly materials that will inspire also his Haute Couture show. This is what sets him apart from other designers. He has an ethnic approach to fashion and his designs are eco-stylish.

Tuncer Tonun awarded for nostalgic Turkish curtains

TUNCER Tonun, a young Turkish fashion designer living in England, won the award for best designer in Britain with his collection of nostalgic Turkish curtains.

Known for organising London’s Fashion Week, Fashions Finest, organised a competition for Britain’s top designers.

Turkish fashion designers collection was called ‘The secrets behind the curtain’.

Tonun used various curtains for his collection embraced from Anatolia such as Ağrı, Iğdır, Niğde, Şanlıurfa and Konya.

The juries of the competition included Nick Johnston, one of the best magazine photographers in England, stylist and fashion presenter Nicky Hambleton and celebrity stylist Bernard Connolly.

CURTAINS USED IN THE 1980s

Tonun, in this collection expressed his satisfaction due to the awards he has received with regard to recent studies, Tonun underlined that he was inspired by villages in Turkey during the 1980s. Also he added that he aims to recycle his national curtains.

The UK’s Top Designer competition, held every year in London during the week of London Fashion Week, allows young designers from the UK and the world to demonstrate their creative work. Hundreds of young designers participated in the event, and one of the top nine fashion designers to win the best designer award.

Tuncer Tonun stated that he was extremely proud to present his cultural heritage during this significant event.

Tuncer Tonun został tegorocznym laureatem British Top Designer Award. Jego suknie, wykonane z zasłon z lat osiemdziesiątych, zachwycały.

 Tuncer Tonun urodził się w Turcji w 1988 roku. Swoją pracę w przemyślę modowym rozpoczał jako asystent w Bahar Korcan Studio. Naukę

kontynuował na Wydziale Sztuk Pięknych Yeditepe University w Istambule. W 2010 roku przeprowadził się do Londynu, gdzie dwa lata później przedstawił swoją pierwszą kolekcję “The Spirit of the God” podczas London Fashion Week.

 Jego projekty powstały z materiałów przeznaczonych do utylizacji. Suknie pokazane podczas konkursu to połączenie wschodniego, przepychu z formami rodem z Haute Couture. Te suknie są fenomenalne!

 Oprócz Tuncera Tonun’a do finału British Top Designer Award zostało zakwalifikowanych 9 osób, wśród nich Polak Marcin Giebultowski. Pozostali finalici to:Joyce Pilarsky, April Banbury, Kepaza, Misora Nakamori, Louisa Moody, Helen Kaye oraz Mary Dickow.

London Fashion Week 2019: Najlepším dizajnérom je​ Tuncer Tonun z Turecka!

Neodmysliteľnou súčasťou týždňa módy v Londýne sú už niekoľko rokov prehliadky v rámci projektu Fashions Finest. Tento rok sa na móle v kongresovom centre na Great Russel Street predstavilo 17 dizajnérov z 12 krajín, vrátane talentovaného Tuncera Tonuna z Turecka.

Vyvrcholenie jedného z prehliadkových dní bola prehliadka Britain’s Top Designer Award, kde svoju tvorbu ukázali najlepší začínajúci dizajnéri. V porote, ktorá rozhodla o tom, kto získa pomyselný titul majstra sedel celebritný stylista Bernard Connolly, módny fotograf Joe Alvarez, módna redaktorka Sarah Mulindwa a stylistka Nicky Hambleton-Jones.

 

Meno víťaza oznámila Deborah St Louis, zakladateľka značky Fashions Finest. Najlepším návrhárom sa stal Tuncer Tonun z Turecka. Na móle upútal priam rozprávkovou kolekciou. Honosné a nadýchané sukne, množstvo kvetov a rafinovaná červená boli jedným z dôvodov, prečo tvorba 30-ročného dizajnéra všetkých doslova vytrela zrak.

Dear Loyal Readers

I really can’t stand how two-faced the weather in this country is. Each morning you wake up and you never know what to expect or even how to dress for it. Still, it makes for a great icebreaker. If you still have doubts we have some real-life advice from two experts who are already working in the industry, New York-based stylist duo Bryan Alexis and Miguel Carlos Martinez, sharing the pros and cons of their profession.

We take a more sombre tone as we discuss mental health in the music industry and what more can be done. Sticking with music and healing, we tell you why you should be splurging all your money on concerts.  Ntangou Badila talks us through her art and which celebrity homes she would like to have her art pieces hanging up in. Finally, we take a look at what hard work, consistency and talent can produce.
